Continents & Oceans Objectives:
SWBAT define the terms continent and ocean. SWBAT use visual representation to identify and label the continents and oceans on a world map. SWBAT apply a mnemonic device to remember the continents and oceans.

Learning Stations Scholars will participate in a variety of differentiated stations to fully understand the world’s continents and oceans. Every Group will visit each station. 1. Technology Zone: Watch Brainpop’s “Continents of the World” and “Oceans” video. Review mnemonic device: “Eat An Apple As A Nighttime Snack” [Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, North America, and South America] 2. Puzzle World: Find the perfect match! Place the continent where it belongs on the world map. 3. Manipulation Area: Find laminated pieces of different continents. Label each continent. Complete “Continents & Oceans of the World” worksheet. 4. Q & A Segment: Using wipe boards, one student give the group clues about a continent or ocean while the remaining students answer on their wipe board. Make sure to keep count!

Variety of ways to understand continents and oceans Differentiated instruction for all. Wiggle Cushions Helps students with ADD and Autism stay seated longer. Smart Response Clickers Hands-on device used to answer questions provided on the smart or white board. Students have sense of control. Visuals Allows students to visually see the location of continents and oceans. I provide puzzles, laminated pieces, world map, videos, and a worksheet.
