Ways to prepare for the holidays and practice kindergarten skills:
Party The next big celebration in Kindergarten is our Holiday Party. The party will be on Tuesday, December 20th at 10:00. As always, parents are welcome, but not obligated to attend our celebration. Our homeroom mom will be contacting families to donate items or time as needed. There is NO gift exchange in Kindergarten! Things to Practice Writing 0– 10 correctly Write letters and numbers in the snow Use a frosty window as a place to practice shapes, numbers, letters, name writing, sight words, addition and subtraction… Match objects to numbers – use ornaments or candy canes. Then try adding and subtracting! Keep Reading! Ways to prepare for the holidays and practice kindergarten skills: Have children sound out to write holiday/new year cards. Have children sign their own name to Holiday cards. Have them sound out and help write thank you notes. Sort ornaments by color and create a pattern. Try adding and subtracting. Count presents. Have children zip their own coat before heading out. Keep moving over the holidays to stay warm – try hopping, skipping, jumping, throwing, and catching. Rhyme with holiday words.
