Welcome to 4th Grade! Mrs. Sherman & Mrs. Griffin

2 Mrs. Griffin This is my 16th year of teaching.
I have taught in Aberdeen Idaho, and at Syracuse, Bluff Ridge, Lincoln and Buffalo Point Elementary Schools. I have 3 children. They are in the Spanish Immersion program. My family likes to visit Disneyland and the Oregon Coast.

4 Mrs. Sherman I began working with children when I was 8 years old. I worked with children in a variety of ways. I became a certified teacher in 1993 and have worked in education as a teacher, and substitute since that time. When I’m not with children, I enjoy my family, music, photography, and the outdoors.

8 Daily Schedule Monday – Thursday
8:45 First Bell Rings (Mrs. Sherman teaches in the morning.) 8:50 Tardy Bell – School Begins 11:40 – 12:25 Lunch (Mrs. Griffin teaches in the afternoon.) 1:40 – 1:55 Afternoon Recess 3:25 School Dismissed

9 Friday Schedule One of us will teach all day on Friday.
Our schedule will be posted on our web page. School is dismissed at 1:25 for early out.

10 Library, Art, Music, Computer and P.E.
Monday: Music at 9:05 to 9:50 Tuesday: Computer Lab at 2:05 to 2:50 Wednesday: P.E. at 9:05 to 9:50 Thursday: Library at 2:00 to 2:30

11 Communicating with Parents
Weekly s will be sent out for our class. See our web pages. Notes will be sent home in the class folder. School wide notes will be sent home in the class folder. Please be aware that we have two websites for our class.

12 Homework Packet Each Thursday students will receive a homework packet that will need to be completed by the next Thursday. Spelling tests will be given on Thursday afternoons. Students will be required to read 20 minutes a day. Students that don’t complete their assignments at school will need to finish them at home and return them the next school day. Papers that need to be returned should be placed in the student’s school folder.

13 Rules Our Classroom and School Expectations:
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Be kind to others. No fighting, put-downs, or bullying. Be respectful to your teacher, school personnel, others and their things. Raise your hand and speak when called on. Be positive about others and self. Always do your best work.

14 These are the steps that will be taken when discipline is needed:
1. Students will be reminded of the rule. (1st warning) 2. Students will receive a 2nd warning about their behavior. 3. Students will practice the desired behavior or fix the situation on the 3rd warning. (Practicing or making the situation right will take place during recess.) 4. Parents will be contacted by a phone call, , or letter for the 5th warning. Students may be placed on a behavior contract for a short or long period of time. **If a school rule has been broken or for very serious offenses, the students will be sent to the office immediately and school/district policy will be followed. 16 Birthdays Currently we have 31 students in our class.
Please let us know of any food allergies and make sure that the treats you provide do not contain nuts. To avoid hurt feelings, we kindly ask students not to pass out party invitations at school.

18 Volunteers Please sign up to help with parties.
Please sign up to volunteer in the classroom today. You can bring younger siblings as long as they aren’t a distraction. We will contact you soon about coming in to help! Thank you for your willingness to help in the classroom.
