School Improvement Plan
To ensure that at least 62% of teaching within the school by the end of the academic year 2015/16 is outstanding and ensure all teaching is consistently good or better Enhance the outside learning area in relation to child initiated learning at EYFS and curriculum enrichment throughout the rest of the school. Lessons monitored and support given to move teaching levels towards outstanding Results monitored 6x per year to ensure progress is being made. 360 Triangulation during each term Pupil progress meetings held 6x through the year to ensure consistency. Teachers will continue to develop effective opportunities for curiosity led enquiry, creative problem solving and risk taking throughout the curriculum

Inset based on moving teaching from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’ Develop elements of outstanding practice through ‘skills’ and ‘expertise’ of staff Use RE fellowship teacher (CS) to develop and lead RE across the school. Possible team teaching / swapping classes. Develop Forest schools lead (RA) and enhance the impact of forest schools as a way to raise standards across the school. Target outstanding teaching in year 2 to support new member of staff to this core year group.

An increase and maintaining of ‘good and outstanding’ teaching of maths and English skills across the curriculum Identify teachers who need support to be consistently good / outstanding in their teaching of maths and English Staff meeting sessions led by maths and English lead to improve staff competence and confidence across the subjects Termly subject leader staff meeting focus with particular focus on English and maths within the identified subject

To develop the use of ICT to enhance the curriculum across the school Staff in conjunction with ICT subject link to identify links to information technology across the curriculum Support groups / classes in developing ICT to enhance the curriculum Purchase and evaluate possible resources to enhance the curriculum through ICT Monitoring of foundation subjects ensures that the use of ICT is maximised

To ensure that teaching extends pupils’ mathematical investigative skills effectively Undertake staff inset into what problem solving / investigation looks like Medium term and weekly planning to include elements of problem solving / investigation Lesson monitoring to monitor the quality of problem solving / investigation

To ensure that all pupils make six steps progress over the course of the academic year with a particular focus on boys attainment Target Tracker expectations reinforced for six steps from starting point. Use 360 triangulation to check planning, pupil voice, book quality and teaching and learning Monitor closely the boy / girl divide and adapt the curriculum appropriately to target the lower group More able groups explicitly targeted to reach higher levels and accelerated progress at end of key stage 1 and 2

To develop confidence in teaching SPAG to ensure progression in children’s attainment Develop set teaching time for SPAG. Develop teacher subject knowledge of effective teaching and progression Ensure that children apply SPAG skills to extended writing. Ensure that Key Stage One are prepared for new statutory requirements.

Ensuring that the standard of Writing is improved across the school to ensure improved levels for more able pupils with particular focus on year 2 and year 6 Whole school focus on stretching more able writers led through a key development plan formulated by the literacy lead Monitor the data to note the progress of key pupils at risk of not hitting higher level writing targets Staff CPD related to developing writing across the school Cross-curricular writing is planned for and delivered effectively across the school. Seen with planning scrutiny, book monitoring and lesson observations. Weekly CPD (staff meeting) reading undertaken and reported based on writing focus

To develop and increase the capacity and role of the Senior Leadership Team of the school Completion of the NPQML programme for 2x key members of SLT to develop leadership skills Key stage leaders to take the lead in undertaking Pupil Progress meetings and accountability of progress of key stage staff Key stage leaders and subject leaders to take a greater role within the monitoring cycle Further monitoring will look again at the issues raised to note improvements and action taken as necessary to raise the level of teaching to good or better Staff CPD / development linked to clearly measurable targets within performance management

To enhance the quality of EYFS provision within the school Continue to distribute leadership and responsibility for EYFS within the school to the EYFS lead Develop child initiated learning across the unit by enhancements to the learning environment both inside and outside the classroom Source and purchase relevant ICT resources to develop and enhance the technology strand of the Early Learning goals Development of outstanding practice within the unit through observation of outstanding practice and settings

To be able through distributed leadership provide high quality subject leadership to ensure a consistent programme and delivery of the curriculum Define clearly the roles of the newly established subject leaders A robust and rigorous monitoring of each subject undertaken on yearly basis Subject development moved forward through: Robust subject development plan – shared with all Staff inset / CPD at staff meeting – see timetable Quality subject leader CPD High quality subject monitoring

Develop the outside learning area for the early years children so they can more readily develop their learning outside as well as within classrooms. Develop plans for opening up the early years area to maximise space Develop the roof area as a possible learning area Develop the EYFS outside learning area as a key learning resource especially in relation to child initiated sessions Develop the bottom grass area as a resource for P.E. New storage equipment New resources Timetabled sessions
