6 How will my grades be weighted in Science?
CHS Grading Scale Assessments (Tests/Quizzes) 35% Projects/Presentations/Labs 30% Homework Assignments 25% Participation/Notebook Check 10%

7 What if I score low on a test or quiz in Science class?
Re-testing If a student scores below 73% (C-) on a test, the student will have one option to re-test before the quarter is over. If a student is absent during a test day, that student will need to make up the test by the end of that week during a time outside of class. It will be the student’s responsibility to ask for a re-test and to set up a time to take the test outside of class. Please also note that a score of zero will be given to students with an unexcused absence on a test day.

8 What if do not turn in an assignment in Science class?
CHS Late Homework Policy: *Students with 2 or more late assignments will be assigned to the ‘After school Study Table program’ that will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:10pm- 3:40pm *Students will be deducted one letter grade for each day an assignment is late until the best a student can do is a “C”. The student can receive that “C” if they have the assignment turned in before the chapter test (whichever comes first). If the work is turned in after the test, the student will receive an “F’ for the assignment. *Please note that it is your responsibility to know when assignments are due. I will be posting the assignments due-dates in class and on the NUACS website.

9 Where do I turn in assignments in Science class?
Please turn in your assignments in the designated slot underneath the book shelves. No name on assignment? Automatically 1 point deducted from your score. Late assignments are placed in the same location. Please DO NOT put assignments on my desk

10 Projects, Presentations & Labs in Science class?
Expectations: In this class students will be expected to complete projects, presentations and labs during each semester. I will allocate class time for students to work on these activities, but some outside schoolwork may be required for the student to complete the assignment. During the ‘project class time’ students are expected to stay on task. If a student chooses to work on the project entirely at home they still will be expected to complete project-related assignments to show participation. Students in grades 7 and 8 are expected to complete a SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT that will be graded in January, before the Regional Science Fair. Please note that additional information will be coming home from your child regarding SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS.
