What is the proposal ? Three (3) local Newham schools to form a multi academy trust and convert to academy status: Eleanor Smith School Gainsborough Primary School Kaizen Primary school To enable the schools to provide an excellent education and achieve outstanding outcomes for all our pupils To control our own destiny…… …….in a fast changing educational landscape. How will pupils and staff benefit?

How will the multi academy trust be run? Each school to appoint a Director to represent their school. Seven (7) Directors appointed to provide particular expertise. Majority likely to be existing Governors. Each school has a Local Governing Body with community, parent and staff representation. Leadership group of Headteachers to develop Trust partnership working One of Headteachers to act as CEO to manage the Trust (not an Exec Head!) Clear Scheme of Delegation setting out decision-making process and powers Multi Academy Trust Trust Members Trust Directors Finance & Audit Committee Kaizen Eleanor Smith Gainsborough

How will staff be affected?
Staff no longer employed by London Borough of Newham after conversion All staff will work for the new multi academy trust Staff will continue to work in their school Transfer of employment under TUPE regulations Protection of employment terms & conditions of employment at point of transfer. Full protection of pension rights Future pay, terms and conditions to be at least equal to national and local agreements Greater opportunities for professional development
