3 Why is this an issue? One in every 150 children in United States has diagnosis. Little or no experience with ASD students Numerous accommodations and changes needed.

4 What to change? Physical Setup: limit stimuli
Teacher Preparation/Requirements: vary instructional methods; collaboration !!!!! Daily Schedules: make them VISUAL

5 What to address? Learning Problems and Difficulties: hard to engage; perseverate Behavioral Issues: disruptive, emotional Learning Styles: majority are visual learners Social Skills: trained peers

6 What is needed? Motivation & Reinforcement: Preference Assessment
Reading: Computer based Transitioning: planning is necessary

Early interventions Could be costly
