2 203 (Welsh) Field Hospital
Army Medical Services Reserve unit. Part of 2nd Medical Brigade. 50 Bed facility (including ED, Theatres, ITU, Ward) Our role is to recruit, train and retain suitably qualified healthcare professionals in order to support the Regular Army.

4 SUPPORT TO MILITARY OPERATIONS
203 (Welsh) Filed Hospital has deployed twice as a formed unit to Operation HERRICK in Afghanistan. We deployed 65 personnel in 2008 and 55 in 2014. Aside from this many of our individual unit personnel have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of other units.

5 TRAINING Training with Operational Coalition and NATO partners
Two hours training each Wednesday evening Weekend of low level MATTs training three times a year. Annual Camp in June, covering Ranges, CBRN and Adventure Training. Clinical Training - Clinical Training Suite at University of Glamorgan Training with Operational Coalition and NATO partners Ex TOM TEN – Disaster Relief AMSTT (AMSTAP) – Military skills competition

6 RECRUITING Recruiting effort aimed primarily at Healthcare Professionals, mainly from NHS Wales. Clerks, Drivers, Chefs, Engineers and Administrative Officers. Recruiting pinch points: Consultant EM, Consultant Surgeons, Haematologists, Ophthalmic Nurses. Main recruiting drive is Ex MEDICAL STRETCH, although there are many smaller events.

9 COMMITMENT Minimum of 28 Days per year 16 Day Annual Camp or Course
Remainder made up of training weekends/evenings Military Annual Training Tests (Weapon Training, CBRN, Navigation, First Aid, Values & Standards & Fitness) Paid Leave – 1 day for every 10 days served Pensionable

13 Visits from NHS LHB Staff and Military guests.
EX MEDICAL STRETCH Often referred to as the crystal maze with more rain. Annually since hugely popular. Series of challenging stands run on a round robin basis over a total distance of approx 10 km. Evening BBQ and Social Demonstrates leadership, teamwork and social benefits of joining the Reserves for both staff and LHBs. Visits from NHS LHB Staff and Military guests. The aim is to foster good relations with our NHS colleagues in Wales.
