3 CMYC Year 7 Year 8 What does this mean? Who is assessed?
Your teachers look to see how you demonstrate these skills in your classwork, homework and assessments. A01 A02 A03 A04 A05 Facts (a) My view (a) Self-assessment (b) Key words (b) Others views (b) Peer-assessment (c) Extended writing (c) Making links (c) Making improvements (d) Discussion Responding to feedback Different subjects will focus on different Assessment Objectives. Some will focus on all 5 whereas others will pick 2-3 that are most relevant to their subject. In RE we focus on 3 main AO’s: AO1 – Knowledge and Understanding AO2 – Opinion and Justification AO4 – Reflection on our Learning AO = Assessment Objective. It is what your teachers are assessing you on. Each one is split into 3-4 parts labelled a-d

4 Stage 3 Stage 2 Stage 1 Where should I be? Year 8 Year 7
Most Year 8 will start securely on Coundon Stage 2 and will aim to get to stage 3 by the end of KS3. Year 8 Stage 2 Most Year 7 will start on Coundon Stage 1 and will aim to get to Secure Stage 1 or develop Stage 2. Year 7 Stage 1

5 Understanding the Colours
Think of it like climbing a ladder: Stage 3 Stage 2 Red isn’t bad… it just shows that you are starting off on a new level and need a little extra help as you get used to it. Stage 1

6 The number is the Coundon Stage you are currently working at
What about my grade? The grade you are awarded will be made up of a number and a letter e.g. 3a Stage 3 3b 3c 1b 2a Stage 2 2b The number is the Coundon Stage you are currently working at The letter shows exactly where within the stage you are currently working. 2c 1a 1b Stage 1 a = Secure 1c b = Consolidating c = Developing

7 What is a next step? Your next step tells you what you need to do to improve your assessment and either become more secure at that stage, or potentially move on to the next stage. Add some more examples from the case studies we looked at in class in order to further develop your explanations Sometimes you will be asked to respond to this next step in red pen underneath your teacher’s comment. Other times you will be asked to complete a second draft of your work. If this is the case, you also need to look at the colour coding to see where else you can develop your work.

8 For homework this week you will be completing your next steps for the Baseline Assessment.
You can either: Make improvements to your existing leaflet/poster in red pen Create a second draft of your leaflet/poster and stick it into your book. Think carefully about the feedback you have been given on your assessment sheet and also any annotations your teacher has written on your poster/leaflet.

9 SPAG – Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar
Whenever your work has been marked you will be asked to check and correct any errors of SPAG which stands for spelling, punctuation and grammar. Your teacher will have used the following codes in order to alert you to any errors of SPAG. SP = Spelling mistake P = Error of punctuation C = Capital letter WW = Wrong word (e.g. their rather than there) ? = Something is unclear VG = Very Good E.G. = Example Needed = Something is missing Take some time now to look over your SPAG and use a dictionary to correct any mistakes V

10 Presentation of Your Book
When marking your work your teacher will also alert you to any issues relating to the presentation of your book. This may include: Incomplete Work = Go back and finish off anything that is incomplete Underline date and title = Go back and underline dates and titles with a ruler Take care with presentation = In future, make sure that work is as neat as possible. Stay focussed and on task = Some of this work isn’t completed to the best of your ability – probably because you lacked focus in this lesson.

11 Next Step 1 Next Step 2 Next Step 3 10 Commandments Add pictures to represent the 10 Commandments & colour them in Draw a poster for the 10 Commandments of excellent book presentation Try to reverse the 10 Commandments? What would the opposite rules be? Symbols Finish drawing your symbol and colour it in Label the different parts of your symbol Write a paragraph explaining how the symbol represents you Good Researcher Write a paragraph explaining why you chose your best researcher Write a paragraph explaining why doing research is important before an assessment Draw a poster with 5 Dos and 5 Don’ts of research Task: Look back at these 3 tasks that we have completed in RE. Ensure that each task is finished to the best of your ability and then attempt one of the next steps for each task.
