2 Title: What is holy writing for a Muslim and why is it so significant?

3 If ten people are looking at the same rainbow then how many rainbows are there?

4 Teacher’s questions - Rainbow
Are rainbows (is colour) in our heads or in the world? Or are they in both? If rainbows (or colour) are in our heads then how many rainbows would there be? If rainbows (or colour) are in the world and not in our heads then how many rainbows would there be?

5 Take a look at the picture. What do you see?

6 Teacher’s questions Do you see it as a duck or as a rabbit? If you sometimes see it as one, and sometimes the other, what changes? Does what you see change? If you had never heard of a duck would you only see a rabbit? If you had never heard of a rabbit or a duck, what would you see it as then? Would people with different thoughts and concepts see it differently to you? Does it make sense to speak of the world as it is in itself, independently of how we see it? What, then, does the real world look like?

7 Teacher questions Why did we look at these questions today? Link to today’s lesson. What does scripture mean to people? How do they use it? What does it mean to them? What do we already know about scripture from the Islamic tradition?

Muslims believe the Torah, unlike the Qur’an has not been preserved in its original and true form. The Zabur The Psalms, also sacred for Christians and Jews.
