Lessons from Isaiah The Real Throne
Men must see before they can say. R. J. Campbell June 4, 2017

Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of His robe filled the temple.

2 Chronicles 26:16 But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.

Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of His robe filled the temple.

Isaiah 6:2 Above Him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

Isaiah 6:3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”

Revelation 4

Isaiah 6:4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.

Isaiah 6:5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”

Peter But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” Luke 5:8

John the Beloved When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last… Revelation 1:17

Daniel 10:9, 15 Then I heard the sound of his words, and as I heard the sound of his words, I fell on my face in deep sleep with my face to the ground. When he had spoken to me according to these words, I turned my face toward the ground and was mute.

John Goldingay Merciful grace belongs as much to the essence of God’s holiness as justice and purity.

Isaiah 6:6-7 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

Revelation 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne,

Isaiah 6:6-7 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

Isaiah 6:8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.

Isaiah 6:9 And He said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’

Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

A Sad Picture of a Hard Heart
Matt 13:14-15 Mark 4:12 Luke 8:10 John 12:40 Acts 28:26-27 Romans 11:8

Isaiah 6:11-12 Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And He said: “Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without people, and the land is a desolate waste, and the Lord removes people far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.

Isaiah 6:13 And though a tenth remain in it, it will be burned again, like a terebinth or an oak, whose stump remains when it is felled.” The holy seed is its stump.

For Our Consideration How does it help us to realize that God is on His throne and there is a temple in heaven? How can a sinful person stand in the presence of a Holy, Holy, Holy God? What shape is our heart in? Dull or understanding? Does our desire match Isaiah’s regarding God’s call?

Prayer Focus Thank You so much for Your word that gives us a glimpse of what is real and eternal Thank You so much for forgiving our sin and giving us a job to do Thank You for the gift of hope both for now and forever Thank You for a new day to walk on with you
