2. Course Outline Assessment
This course encourages students to develop their ideas and skills through a variety of practical and theoretical tasks. Students learn a range of materials and techniques for observational drawing and also lean about art movements. This course prepares students for VCE Studio Arts.
Assessment
The course is divided into 3 assessment tasks:
1. A folio of practical tasks to develop skills using a range of materials and techniques worth (40% of the overall grade)
2. A Pop Art and Appropriation task where students learn about the art movement and create a contemporary artwork using materials of their choice (30% of the overall grade)
3. An analysis task which involves writing about artworks (30% of the overall grade)

Art Industry - Visiting art galleries to learn about artists and their working methods
Observational Drawing - Drawing objects and people from life in a range of mediums

Pop Art and Appropriation Learning about the movement of Pop Art and creating an artwork which features pop culture and historical art references
Art Analysis- Writing about art and considering artists’ use of materials and techniques, art elements and principles, aesthetics, interpretation and meanings
