Pewter Casting
2
Pewter Pewter is a malleable metal alloy.
Traditionally 85-99% is tin. The remaining metals are usually copper, antimony and bismuth. Pewter has a low melting point of around °C. We can easily melt and then cast this metal alloy in school. A mould can be made from MDF and the pewter is heated in a ladle on the brazing hearth. Health & Safety Issues: Wear gloves and goggles while heating the pewter. Stand clear when pouring as it can easily splash. Keep water away from liquid pewter. Pour in a well ventilated area.
