SPORTS COACHING THE MASTERS DEGREE FOR SPORTS COACHING
Commenced on 6th April 2017, 23 prospective Masters degree students. 1st assignment- ‘the critical review of their NF sports coaching strategies and implementation plans’ RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) 128 sports coaches have been RPL to date from 17 NFs 4 Stage assessment process

SPORTS COACHING COACHING ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH AFRICA (CASA) 110 Sports coaching members uploaded on the professional body for sports coaching (CASA) 17 NFs- Cricket, SAFA, SARU, CHESSA, Volleyball, Netball, SAGF, Tennis, Rowing, Swim SA, Softball, ASA, Triathlon, Sailing, Cycling, Wrestling, Fencing NSA- has the highest number of sport coaching members (63) registered on CASA Launch of CASA – Date (1-2 June 2017)

Operation Excellence (OPEX) Programme
Objective To provide every South African Olympic/Paralympic/World Games medal potential Athlete with all possible opportunities, to prepare for the African Games, Commonwealth Games, World Games, Paralympic and Olympic Games, with the ultimate goal of winning a medal. SASCOC considers the following factors to accept athletes onto the programme: Athlete’s current international ranking; Athlete’s consistency with podium finishes at international events over the past year; Athlete’s proven ability to constantly perform at higher level and return medals.

Operation Excellence (OPEX) Programme
For athletes to qualify for support, they shall be: Athletes who were medallists at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games and are still eligible for participation/ committed to preparing for Tokyo 2020. Athletes who were finalists (up to and including 5th position) at the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games, and are still eligible for participation/ committed to preparing for Tokyo 2020. SASCOC reserves the right to amend the qualification criteria should the international qualification criteria vary or be amended at any stage prior to any SASCOC approved event.

Policy &General Eligibility and Selection Criteria – Continental Slots Continental Championships shall be considered and agreed to between SASCOC and the NF with minimum requirements as set out by the IF. Additional criteria will be set by SASCOC considering the level of the sport, number of countries, as well as the rankings/ results of individuals or teams in the particular sport.

Programme 5 – Sport Infrastructure Support SRSA to assist with negotiating better rates/free access with municipalities to increase access for athletes/ NFs Lease agreements to be biased towards recognised NFs and clubs (negotiate with municipalities)
