1 IMPACT SAMR Cover Sheet
Teacher: Tara Cudd Louisiana Science Inquiry Standard (include description): Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Evaluate selected theories based on supporting scientific evidence (SI-H-B1) Cite evidence that scientific investigations are conducted for many different reasons (SI-H-B2) Task Overview Learning Objective(s) Suggested Technology Click links for 3 other genetic disorders and give feedback. Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Evaluate selected theories based on supporting scientific evidence (SI-H-B1) Computer with internet access Blackboard Google slides Create a slide show using Google slides (link on my blackboard) on the genetic disorder that you were assigned in class. You must have a minimum of 10 slides as instructed on the rubric. You may use more than one slide for each topic as need to make the font a readable slide from the audience. Cite evidence that scientific investigations are conducted for many different reasons (SI-H-B2) Google Slides Printer Use Quizlet to review genetic disorders. Quizlet Watch the slide show on Genetic Disorders. PowerPoint REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. transformation MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign.. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. enhancement SUBSTITUTION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with no real change.

2 Genetic Disorders Power point
Watch the slide show on Genetic Disorders. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Log on to Blackboard. Under My Classes, click on Sam Houston High- Tara Cudd Click on the Biology II tab found on the left. Open the PowerPoint content folder. Click on the link for the Genetic Disorders and watch the slide show. Be prepared to discuss information from the slide show in class. This task uses: Computer with internet access Blackboard PowerPoint Presentation Learning Objective(s): Identify the connection between genes and disease. Describe how a mutation in a gene can occur and how it can be passed on to offspring. Show the inheritance patterns of different genetic disorders. Recognize that genetic diseases may be determined by a single gene (Mendelian) or by the interaction of several genes and possibly the environment (multifactorial). Understand that some genetic diseases are caused by extra or missing chromosomes due to nondisjunction in meiosis I. Teacher’s name/ Tara School: Sam Houston High School Louisiana State Standard:LS-H-B1, LS-H-B2, LS-H-B3 Grade Level/Subject:11th & 12th / Biology II Special Directions/Considerations: PowerPoint is included in the lesson resources Activity Evaluation: Rubric will be graded by the teacher. Slide shows will be peer reviewed. Prerequisites for students: Must have a working knowledge of meiosis and chromosomal inheritance.

3 Quizlet Review of Genetic Disorders
A Quizlet Review of Genetic Disorders Use Quizlet to review genetic disorders. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Log on to Blackboard. Under My Classes, click on Sam Houston High- Tara Cudd Click on the Biology II tab found on the left. Open the Web Links content folder. Click on the link for the Genetic Disorders Quizlet. Review the cue cards found in this section. Take a practice test and check your answers. This task uses: Computer with internet access Blackboard Quizzlet Learning Objective(s): Identify the connection between genes and disease. Describe how a mutation in a gene can occur and how it can be passed on to offspring. Show the inheritance patterns of different genetic disorders. Recognize that genetic diseases may be determined by a single gene (Mendelian) or by the interaction of several genes and possibly the environment (multifactorial). Slide shows will be peer reviewed. Prerequisites for students: Must have a working knowledge of meiosis and chromosomal inheritance.

4 Genetic Disorder Research Project
M Genetic Disorder Research Project Create a slide show using slides (link in my black board) on the genetic disorder that you were assigned in class. You must have a minimum of 10 slides as instructed on the rubric. You may use more than one slide for each topic as need to make the font a readable slide from the audience. MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Log on to Blackboard. Under My Classes, click on Sam Houston High- Tara Cudd Click on the Biology II tab found on the left. Open the Diagrams & Handouts & Notes content folder. Click on the link for the Genetic Disorders Rubric. Download and print the rubric. Open the Web Link tab and click on your disorder to create your slide show. This task uses: Computer with internet access Blackboard Google Slides Printer Learning Objective(s): Research and understand one genetic disorders and its causes. Create a slide show to share with peers for review. Teacher’s name/ Tara School: Sam Houston High School Louisiana State Standard:LS-H-B1, LS-H-B2, LS-H-B3 Grade Level/Subject:11th & 12th / Biology II Special Directions/Considerations: Rubric is included in lesson resources. Activity Evaluation: Rubric will be graded by the teacher. Slide shows will be peer reviewed. Prerequisites for students: Must have a working knowledge of meiosis and chromosomal inheritance.

5 Peer Review of Genetic Disorder Presentations
Review 3 other genetic disorder presentation. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Log on to Blackboard. Under My Classes, click on Sam Houston High- Tara Cudd Click on the Biology II tab found on the left. Open the Web Links content folder. Click on the Presentations tab for your class. Open and view 3 different genetic disorders. In the notes section at the bottom of the title slide in each presentation make a comment on the presentation you have just viewed. This task uses: Computer with internet access Blackboard Google slides Learning Objective(s): Review at least 3 other genetic disorders uploaded by your peers. Critique and/or ask questions on those 5 genetic disorders through the discussion board. Teacher’s name/ Tara School: Sam Houston High School Louisiana State Standard:LS-H-B1, LS-H-B2, LS-H-B3 Grade Level/Subject:11th & 12th / Biology II Special Directions/Considerations: All links are available on my Black Board site. Activity Evaluation: Rubric will be graded by the teacher. Slide shows will be peer reviewed. Prerequisites for students: Must have a working knowledge of meiosis and chromosomal inheritance.
