Looking up Rebuke Ch. 1:6-2:9 Ch. 2:10-3:18 Called to be Faithful Looking in Hope Looking Ahead

13 17 You have wearied the Lord with your words.
“How have we wearied Him?” you ask. You have wearied Him by saying that all who do evil are good in the Lord’s sight, and He is pleased with them. You have wearied Him by asking, “Where is the God of justice?” Malachi 2:17

14 “Look! I am sending My messenger,
and he will prepare the way before Me.

15 and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”
41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!” Luke 1:41-42

16 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said,
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ John 1:29-30

17 “Look! I am sending my messenger, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The Messenger of the Covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies

18 And the dead in Christ will rise first.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

19 we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

20 41The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says,
“The day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw. They will be consumed— roots, branches, and all.”

21 2 “But for you who fear my name, the Son of Righteousness will rise
with healing in His wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.

22 3 On the day when I act, you will
tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

23

24 and regulations that I gave him on Mount Sinai for all Israel.
4 “Remember to obey the Law of Moses, My servant—all the decrees and regulations that I gave him on Mount Sinai for all Israel.

25 coming of the child who was promised.
“19 Why, then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the child who was promised. God gave His law through angels to Moses, who was the mediator between God and the people.

26 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile,
slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are His heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you. Galatians 3

27 5 “Look, I am sending you the prophet
Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord arrives.

28 6 His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers
to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

29 WHAT NEXT? 3 And I will give power to my two witnesses… and they will prophesy during those 1,260 days.”

30 WHAT NEXT? 5 If anyone tries to harm them,
fire flashes from their mouths and consumes their enemies. This is how anyone who tries to harm them must die.

31 WHAT NEXT? 6 They have power to shut the sky so that
no rain will fall for as long as they prophesy. And they have the power to turn the rivers and oceans into blood, and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they wish.

32 7 When they complete their testimony,
WHAT NEXT? 7 When they complete their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the bottomless pit will declare war against them, and he will conquer them and kill them. 8 And their bodies will lie in the main street of Jerusalem...

33 God breathed life into them,
WHAT NEXT? 9 And for three and a half days, all peoples, tribes, languages, and nations will stare at their bodies. No one will be allowed to bury them11 But after three and a half days, God breathed life into them, and they stood up!

34 WHAT NEXT? Terror struck all who were staring at them. 12 Then a loud voice from heaven called to the two prophets, “Come up here!” And they rose to heaven in a cloud as their enemies watched. Revelation 11
