2 About Ms. Ingram Born in Pennsylvania / Raised in Charleston, South Carolina Moved to Phoenix 2 years ago Master of Arts in Teaching Early Childhood Education (College of Charleston) Bachelor of Arts – Communication Studies 7th year teaching (1st and 3rd grade)

Resources: CKLA, Time for Kids, chapter books, a variety of other fiction and nonfiction texts 95% for phonics and multisyllabic words End of Year fluency goal – 100 words per minute with 97% accuracy DIBELS will be used to assess fluency and accuracy in August, December, and May

12 About Core Knowledge (CKLA)
Guiding principal is to provide educational excellence and equity to all children 60 minutes of daily instruction will focus on: The same topic/theme for days (parent letters will go home weekly with domain info.) Listening to and engaging with increasingly complex content Engaging lessons with a heavy vocabulary emphasis Producing a written performance task to demonstrate learning

14 Move on When Reading A.R.S , passed in 2010, states than when a third grade student scores far below the third grade proficiency level on AzMerit they will not be promoted to fourth grade These students will receive additional intervention at school Exempt students include students with an IEP in reading or language and ELL students who have received less than 2 years of English instruction Timeline: Parents of students identified will be contacted by October Progress will be checked throughout the year and intervention plans will change if necessary Decisions about promotion or retention will be made after receiving AzMerit results

Students will write narrative, informative, and opinion pieces Focus on the writing process – prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, publishing Conventions and grammar skills taught through CKLA and Morning Work Friday quiz Start with 1 paragraph and will progress to 5-paragraph essays Cursive

Resources: Investigations in Data and Space, Fosnot, Engage New York, and Georgia Department of Education A variety of whole group, small group, and independent activities Focus not only on mathematical computation but also problem solving and critical thinking skills Manipulatives Math Games

Multiplication and division (properties and relationship) Rounding Fractions (shapes, number line, equivalency, real world) Measurement (length, weight, capacity) Time on a clock to the nearest minute Attributes of quadrilaterals Data analysis (bar graphs, pictographs, line plots)
