1. MedEdPortal – Getting Scholarly Activity Accepted 2. Curriculum Share Website Alex Djuricich Indiana University
2
MedEdPortal Repository of educational tools (mostly curricula) housed by the AAMC Peer-reviewed If accepted, it is considered a “publication” with an official “citation” format Search many different ways (author, keyword, discipline, by learner type)
3
Why Would You Use It? Find resources for medical education
Written curricula Web-based curricula Videos Picture tutorials Communication Skills It is not MedPeds-specific
4
Why it is good for the submitters
You get “published” People access the site and see your name You can now gain access to the list of everyone who has viewed your submission on the site (good for promotion and tenure) This is new! MedEdPortal actually sends a letter to the Dean of the medical school stating which faculty have products on its site (cc to you)
5
What I learned Know basics of curricular format before sending in (e.g., needs assessment, goals and objectives, evaluative method, etc.) Peer-review is hard: reviewers are picky This only makes your final product better Listen to the feedback provided and adjust accordingly Follow the rules for submission: lots of questions You get s from people asking more about your “product”
