Architectural Association Connecting Collections
Background information slide The Architectural Association School of Architecture is the oldest independent architecture school in the country. 700 FTE students ranging from Foundation to PhD, 200 academic staff and 2000 members of the association. The library was first established in ,000 books. Users include both the school and the professional membership. The Archives was officially brought together in It documents and makes available the AA’s educational, administrative and cultural history. New archive and material is being catalogued and added on a regular basis. The Archives uses CALM to catalogue its collections. The Photo Library (old slide library) has a collection of over 500,000 images and 8000 of these are available digitally. They are currently live in iBase. In an effort to bring these collections together and increase use of the archives and photo library, we received a donation from one of our members to combine the catalogues under one search. Helen will discuss further the process of combining catalogues as I actually asked Helen quite a few questions before we decided to go with Enterprise (as well as Ruth Salisbury at the University of Reading).
