4. Writing prompt
The poems you have been reading celebrate heroic deeds of the past. What heroic deeds are performed today? Write a narrative poem telling about a modern-day heroic deed. Choose or invent a character, decide on a setting, and write the first two stanzas of the poem. What obstacle or problem must the hero of your poem overcome? You may want to imitate the rhythm and style of “Paul Revere’s Ride” or one of the narrative poems you have read. You will have a chance to add more stanzas in your narrative poem during the Writing Project time in Cycle 2.
