FOCUS Mission To Reach and Equip Students in Institutions of Higher Learning and Associates for Effective Christian Living.

Strategic Priority Areas (SPAs)
The FOCUS Strategic Plan has six SPAs. Each SPA has a key goal and several expected outcomes

SPA 1: Evangelism Goal: Increased number of students who come to develop personal faith in Christ.

SPA 1: Evangelism Outcomes:
Improved visibility, awareness and relevance of the CU on campus/college. Established and improved seeker sensitive environment for evangelism.

Outcomes: Increased participation of Individual CU members in one-to-one witnessing. Enhanced support to CUs by their respective university faculty and staff fellowships.

SPA 2: Discipleship Goal:
Increased number of Students equipped for a lifetime of service in the Family, Church and Society.

SPA 2: Discipleship Outcomes:
Increased growth of Christian students in theological depth and sound doctrine. Increased consistency and quality of personal devotions and reflections among Christian students. Improved application of a Christian mind to daily life and issues of the day by Christian students.

Outcomes: Personal integrity and peer accountability for CU members promoted. Enhanced involvement of Associates in Students discipleship programs Equipped Associates for Christian ministry through effective programs and activities

SPA 3: Leadership Development
Goal: Improved servant leadership capabilities.

Outcomes: Increased leadership skills, integrity and capacity of CU leaders to lead the CUs and their programs. Increased reach of the leadership development programs beyond the Christian Unions. Enhanced involvement and support by Associates in leadership development for CU leaders and members.

Outcomes: Established Christian Professional Groups for greater growth of Associates as leaders in their professions. Increased involvement of Associates in leadership development program in other organizations and Churches.

SPA 4: Integral Mission and Social Transformation
Goal: Improved witness by Students and Associates to the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ in their personal and professional lives.

Outcomes: Increased awareness of integral mission by Students and Associates. Increased advocacy and participation in social justice issues and causes by CU members.

Outcomes: Increased engagement in biblical transformation of the society by students and associates. Increased number of Associates practising market-place evangelism.

SPA 5: Partnership with Churches, Universities and other Organizations
Goal: Improved partnerships with our strategic stakeholders.

Outcomes: Improved partnerships between the CUs and like- minded Organizations and Churches. Improved partnerships between CUs and university administration. Increased participation of Associates in CU alumni groups in the Regions.

Outcomes: Improved partnerships of Associates’ with churches and Christian Organizations to foster support for student ministry. Improved partnership and linkages with the Diaspora Associates.

SPA 6: Organizational Effectiveness
Goal: Improved performance of FOCUS Secretariat and member CUs and Associate branches.

Outcomes: Well managed and resourced CU programs. Established and functional CUs for non-resident students. Improved modelling of unity and diversity by CUs in their leadership and programs.

Outcomes: Improved ownership of the FOCUS Ministry by the CUs in line with the membership obligations. Improved vibrancy in Associates Ministry with proper management structures. Improved organizational performance of the FOCUS secretariat.

Percentage of campus students attending the CU services. 2016: 10% 2017: 12.5% 2018: 15% 2019: % 2020: 20% CUs to plan for seeker-sensitive Sunday Services, the features of which will include: enhanced publicity, welcoming first time visitors, good time management, consciousness of non-believers in worship songs, and having evangelistic sermons. CUs to hold seeker-sensitive evangelistic events such as breakfast or lunches, coffee houses, university mission, Evangelistic Bible Studies both for resident and non-resident student. No. of evangelistic events per member CU. At least 2 per year.
