5 Important Dates Gloria’s family fled Cuba for Miami in 1959.
Gloria began her singing career in 1975 with the group Miami Sound Machine. On sept. 2, 1978 she married Emilio Estefan, who was the keyboardist in the group. September 2,1980 her son was born. The groups 1st English breakthrough album was Primitive Love, happened in 1985. 1990 she was in a car accident and was injured seriously. In 1993 she won a Grammy for best Tropical Latin Album. December 5,1994 her daughter was born. In 2001 she won another Grammy for the same category. July 30, ,2004 Estefan Began her last tour, she played in 28 cities. Her first book was published October of The “Magically Mysterious Adventures of Noelle the Bulldog”

6 Why she’s Famous? Gloria Estefan is a Cuban-American singer, founder of the Miami Sound Machine, and the most successful performer to cross over from Latin music to American pop. Know as Queen of Latin pop, Estefan is one of the most recognized music artists in the world. She has over 70 million albums sold worldwide. Besides her singing career Estefan has appeared in two movies, Music of the Heart (1999), and For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (2000). She also Published a book Called “Magically Mysterious Adventures Of Noelle the Bulldog” in 2005.

7 Examples of her songs: A couple of her know songs are…Conga, (In 1988, Estefan helped organize the world's longest conga line in Miami. It was three miles long, had almost 120,000 participants, and made the Guinness Book of World Records.) Music of my Heart (with nsync), and a Spanish song….listen to songs!!!!!!

8 Family Life: Emilio Estefan proposed to Gloria on February 12th, 1978, then after two years of dating they married on September 2nd, (he had once taught her in a music class when she was in high school!) There first child was a boy. They named him Nayib, he was born on September 2nd, 1980. Their second child was born on December 5th, 1994, her name was Emily Marie. She also has a female bulldog named Noelle.

9 Travels: Gloria Estefan has traveled all over the world, while she has been on tour, going to perform concerts, and to the places she has moved. Gloria was born in Havana, Cuba but her and her family came to the US when she was a young girl. When she has gone on tour she has gone back to a lot of Latin countries such has Cuba, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, and many other places. When she performs her concerts she gets to go all over to, to all different cities across the world.

10 More Info: Her family moved from Cuba because of Fidel Castro had taken over and it was no longer safe for them. In 1961, Gloria's father went back to Cuba to help overthrow the Castro government in what was later called the Bay of Pigs invasion. The plan didn't work, and Fajardo ended up in jail. After 18 months, he was released and came back to the United States. He joined the United States Army. Gloria's father was sent to Vietnam in When he returned in 1968, he was ill and no longer able to work, so Gloria's mother became a teacher to support the family.
