GROUPS OF THREE Pupil 1: Collect goggles for partners Pupil 2 and 3: Collect three INVESTIGATION sheets from me Wear goggles before collecting equipment and chemicals. Each person does two steps in the method. Work fast, you only have 10 minutes to complete the mission. Once you have completed the sheet, show me and then collect the MISSION sheet from me. Choose ONE task to complete, then show it to me. 3 drops of 3 drops of 3 drops of 3 drops of ANYTHING CONTAINING LEAD IS TOXIC: DON’T TOUCH THE METAL – USE TONGS. IF YOU SPILL THE SOLUTION, TELL ME. Each person does two steps in the method. Once you have completed the sheet, show me and then collect the MISSION sheet from me. Do as much as you can in the time available – we just have 10 minutes of experiment time, so hurry! Metal displacement reactions Equipment spotting tile pencil for labels 4 dropping pipettes beaker (for waste) Salt solutions zinc nitrate magnesium nitrate copper nitrate lead nitrate (TOXIC, DANGER) Metals zinc, magnesium, copper lead (TOXIC, DANGER TO ENVIRONMENT) Risk assessment Wear goggles. Use tongs for lead.
