2. Vermes Miklós Primary School can be found in Csepel,
on the outskirts of Budapest,
capital city of Hungary.

3. Csepel is an island in the Danube so the river bank is close to us on both sides. There is a residential area around the school with housing estates and family houses.

4. We are a primary school for students aged 6 to 14
We are a primary school for students aged 6 to 14. They come from a socially and geographically diverse area. The majority of our students use public transport to get to the school. The school is a 27-year-old two-storey building with four blocks.

5. In the entrance hall there is the office of the Headmistress, the staffroom and the library. The school has a population of 420 girls and boys in 16 classes with a teaching staff of 38 people. Approximately 26 students are in each classes.

6. Our school is well equipped
Our school is well equipped. There are special classrooms for each subjects, a sports field and a big gym. Internet access assists our learners. The first two blocks are for the senior section with a language, an IT and a Science laboratory. The classrooms for the junior section are in the last two blocks.

7. The school has high but clear and executable requirements for the students. The continuous and efficient relationship with the parents is considered to be significantly important by the school management. The form teachers have a major responsibility to achieve this.

9. Our pupils do well at school
Our pupils do well at school. The school offers special English language classes from year three and special Maths classes from year five. English and Maths are taught in an increased number of lessons (4-5) in these groups.
They excel themselves not only in curricular but extra curricular activities too; they regularly win prizes at school competitions and at sporting events.
The main aim of the school’s educational work is to provide the students with a strong basic knowledge concerning especially Hungarian Literature and Grammar, Mathematics and their specialised subject, English, to prepare them for their further studies.
It is also our top priority to educate children in a loving atmosphere.

10. The school has taken part in two Comenius partnership projects and is just starting an Erasmus+ teacher mobility project.

11. The school takes part in a program for gifted children, called „Talent point, where we use logical games to improve students’ way of thinking.

12. … and we are a „Bird-Friendly School” either.
Another project, called „Without borders”, helps our students to get to know Hungarian mates living in the neighbouring countries.

13. The school and its Student Council regularly organizes day trips, Maths and eco camps, pet exhibitions, school discos and lots of other programmes. Every year we commemorate about our namesake, dr. Vermes Miklós. We also have an annual Charity Ball to raise money for the School Foundation.
