Absolute Location What is it? the exact point where a place is located
(often given in terms of latitude and longitude)

Absolute Location Examples: Edmond, Oklahoma is located at 35.7 degrees north (latitude), 97.5 degrees west (longitude) Deer Creek Middle School is located at 2601 NW 234th St., Edmond, OK 73025

Latitude: imaginary lines that run east to west (parallel to the equator) also called parallels There are 90 degrees north of the equator and 90 degrees south of the equator

Longitude: imaginary lines that run from the North Pole to the South Pole (measuring distance east or west of the prime meridian) also called meridians There are 180 degrees east of the prime meridian and 180 degrees west of the prime meridian.

A hemisphere is half of Earth.
Hemispheres A hemisphere is half of Earth. The equator (0 degrees latitude) divides Earth into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere. The Prime Meridian (0 degrees longitude) divides Earth into the Western Hemisphere and the Eastern Hemisphere.
