3. In the beginning……. Broadband Installation/ WiFi
access for Newcastle Tenants
In 2015 Newcastle City Council (NCC) and Your Homes Newcastle (YHN) worked together to install broadband to tenants living in YHN managed properties.

Funding from the Tinder Foundation was secured by Newcastle City Library to support the delivery of free basic computer training to Newcastle City residents.
The computer training was offered to YHN tenants to help them use their free WiFi in a broader context.

Working in Partnership
The basic training was delivered at Newcastle City Library and became so popular with customers that it was made accessible to all residents of Newcastle, customers are also referred from agencies such as Places for People, Remploy, Igneous and JCP+.
The course is delivered over 2 sessions every Thursday morning with the support of Digital Champion volunteers.
287 residents have completed the Learn My Way, Online Basic course.
