3 Venue Information N Padstow Bay Sailing Areas Sailing Area
The diagram opposite illustrates the main sailing areas for racing in Padstow Bay Padstow Harbour Commissioners have recently published a new navigation aid video filmed from a drone and this gives some footage of both the areas shown on the diagram and also the estuary waters: The sailing area conditions vary greatly according to wind direction and strength. Water depth over these course areas varies between 12 and 35 metres. On the flood tide the current moves from SW into the estuary. Both Stepper Point and Pentire head can be accessed for viewing the racing although a strong pair of binoculars as well as walking shoes would be advisable!
