1 学 术 报 告 报告名称: Functional Inorganic Materials: Molecular Recognition, Chiral Separation and Water Oxidation   报告人:Prof.Samar Kumar Das 时间: (周二) 下午14:30—17:30 地点:会议中心中心会议室 120*90, 90*60 报告人简介: Prof. Samar Kumar Das is from University of Hyderabad, India. EDUCATION  Ph.D. in Chemistry, I.I.T. Kanpur, 1995. Postdoc., The Ohio State University, USA, March 1996-February 1998. Postdoc., University of Bielefeld, Germany, March October 2000. Professor, University of Hyderabad, May Present. RESEARCH TOPICS The main interest of our ongoing research is to synthesize metal-oxide based inorganic compounds and to exploit their host guest, ion exchange and catalytic properties. Current research topics include: (i) new class of dithiolene materials (ii) Crystalline state transformations (iii) supramolcular aspects of the molecular assemblies 报告内容: This talk would describe some selective synthesized inorganic compounds, that can act as functional materials. First a reversible cis–trans conformational switches of an organic receptor in a solid-liquid interface reaction mediated by a Zn-dithiolate complex will be demonstrated. This reaction models an unique example of mechanical motion in the solid state induced by ion association. This will be followed by molecular recognition of azide anion from an aqueous solution through a solid-to-solid (crystal-to-crystal) transformation at a solid-liquid interface, based on the conversion of a mono-nuclear copper coordination complex to chiral coordination polymer. In the second part, a gas-solid reaction in a single crystal to single crystal transformation would be discussed in the context of molecular recognition of methanol from its vapor state at an ambient condition, mediated by a trinuclear iron cluster containing compound. The same compound will be demonstrated to recognize pyridine from its vapor state. Then supramolecular aspect of polyoxometalate (POM) chemistry will be discussed in the context of unusual isolation and chiral separation through spontaneous resolution. Finally a story of a cobalt-aqua complex, that is locked in a confined space of metal organic framework (MOF) and acting as an efficient electrocatalyst for water oxidation,8 will be discussed. Electrocatalytic water oxidation by a zeolite included Co-aqua-hydroxo complex will also be mentioned in the last. . References: Samar K. Das, et al, Chem. Commun., 2011, 47, 2062–2064; Samar K.
