4. Why did we create a PBIS student team?
Our PBIS Teacher Team saw a need for Student Buy-In
From , our 4th and 5th grade students combined had the highest number of referrals over any other grade combinations
Older students felt that some of the incentives were geared only towards younger students

The PBIS Student Team mirrors the PBIS Teacher Team
Same or similar committees
Students report and work with the teacher in charge of the same committee
Students were able to come to a Teacher meeting to understand the format and expectations before beginning their own meetings

Last year, we had over 25 students apply and we accepted 10 to be on the team

Example: Students earned feathers as a class for keeping hands to self
Every half a day that the classroom had no physical contact referrals, the class earned a feather to add to their turkey
Classroom with the most feathers at the end of the incentive earned a special prize
