What is the National e-Strategy
The National e-Strategy provides a high level strategic direction on using ICTs in the development of the Digital Society and transforming to the 4th industrial revolution. The purpose of developing the e-strategy is to articulate the vision for the development of an inclusive information society and knowledge economy for the country that is based on the needs of the citizens, business and public sector. Provide a well-coordinated and integrated roadmap that will guide all ICT initiatives by Government and public sector. The National e-strategy must be viewed as an overarching framework, with a common agenda that directs and guide all ICT intervention Building a better life for all through an enabling and sustainable world class information and communication technologies environment.

Why a National e-Strategy
National Development Plan Vision: By 2030, ICTs will underpin the development of a dynamic information society and a more inclusive prosperous knowledge-based economy. A national e-Strategy that cuts across Government departments and sectors of the economy, energy, science, education, health, Government. Focusing on stimulating demand by promoting e-literacy, instituting ICT rebates and incentives and developing ICT applications in sectors such as health and education as well as on the supply-side infrastructure and institutions. Integrated ICT White Paper Calls for the development of a digital society: with the focus on Digital transformation of Government, digital access and digital inclusion. Building a better life for all through an enabling and sustainable world class information and communication technologies environment.

It is critical that each sector develops its own e-strategy aligned with the goals, objectives as well as priorities of the National e-Strategy: will infuse technology to deliver services, promote growth, employment and reskilling of the current workforce. will outline measurable procurement strategies for services from the SMME and Youth sectors. will provide coordination mechanisms at a sector level to ensure that Government, business and communities are aligned.
