E-Commerce in China (2015) In 2015, China’s total e-commerce volume was expected to be 20.8 trillion yuan, a year-on-year growth of about 27 percent, over-fulfilling the target set in the “E-commerce 12th Five-Year Development Plan” and quadrupling the e-commerce trade volume. In 2015, the cross-border e-commerce sales was about 4.56 trillion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 21.7 percent, where the export amount was about 3.99 trillion RMB yuan, a year-on-year growth of 21.9 percent, and that of import was about billion RMB yuan, a year-on-year growth of 20.3 percent. E-Commerce in China (2015) Fourth, e-commerce in rural areas has been taken onto the fast track of development. Beijing E-Commerce in China (2015) Sixth, e-commerce has made a remarkable achievement in driving “dual innovations”, i.e. mass entrepreneurship and innovation. The total startups hatched in the six biggest “dual innovations” cities accounted for 81 percent of the nation’s total. The number of startups in Beijing was far ahead of those in other cities, accounting for over one third of the nation’s total.
