Multiple parameters need to be taken under consideration:
What type cameras are used? Standard or High Definition
Compression used (today safe to assume H.264)
What frame rate is being displayed?
How many monitors are being used for display?
How many cameras are expected to be shown on each monitor
The more complex the display pattern is, the more these parameters need to be taken into consideration
The flexibility of VMDC allows adding more decoders controlled by the main system
