2 Outline Introduction to Computer Networking Every Network Includes
Advantage of network Type of Networks The internet Web browser Web browser definition Common web browser Search tips

3 introduction to Computer Networking
A network connects one computer to other computers and peripheral devices, enabling you to share data and resources with others. Network interface card(NIC) is a circuit board or card that is installed in a computer so that it can be connected to a network.

4 introduction to Computer Networking
A network consists of two or more computers that are linked in order to share resources (such as printers and CDs), exchange files, or allow electronic communications. The computers on a network may be linked through wire (cables) or wireless ( Wi-Fi) A popular example of a computer network is the Internet, which allows millions of users to share information.

5 Every Network Includes:
At least two computers that have something to share , or one computer and one peripheral devices A cable or wireless pathway, called Transmission Media, for computers to signal each other. Rules, called Protocols , so that computers can use the unified principle of data communication. TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is the basic communication language or protocol of the Internet. Networking Interface Cards (NIC)

6 Advantages of Networks
File Sharing: Networks offer a quick and easy way to share files directly. Resource Sharing: All computers in the network can share resources such as printers, fax machines, modems and scanners. Communication: Those on the network can communicate with each other via , instant messages etc.

7 Advantages of Networks
Flexible Access: Networks allow their users to access files from computers throughout the network. Sharing of Information Computer networks enable us to share data and information with the computers that are located geographically large distance apart.

8 Type of Networks local area network (LAN )
is a group of computers and network devices connected together using wired , usually within the same building A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a group of computers and network devices connected together wirelessly , usually within the same building LAN refers to a wired network while WLAN is used to refer to a wireless network. LAN is much faster compared to WLAN. LAN is more secure compared to WLAN.

9 Type of Networks Wide area network (WAN) Personal area network (PAN )
refers to a network which covers a large geographical area A WAN connects several LAN The Internet is an example of a worldwide public WAN. Personal area network (PAN ) is a computer network used for data transmission amongst devices such as computers, telephones, tablets and personal digital assistants. Typically within 10 meters or 33 feed Example : Bluetooth

10 The Internet The Internet is the largest network in the world, connecting millions of people. Internet usage World Wide Web Web site\ collection of web pages

11 Web Browser Definition
The software you use to connect your computer to the Web server is your Web browser.

12 Common Web Browser Common Web browsers are:
Internet Explorer Safari Google Chrome Firefox These browsers use a standard Graphical User Interface design .

13 Conclusion A network connects one computer to other computers and peripheral devices. Every Network Includes at least two computers, Transmission Media, Protocols , Networking Interface Cards (NIC). File Sharing, Resource Sharing, Communication, Flexible Access, sharing of information are the advantages of networking. There are four kinds of network: LAN , WLAN,WAN and PAN The Internet is the largest network in the world, connecting millions of people.
