13. Section B 3a Explanations
1. old和age都可用于表示年龄，但其词性不同，用法也有区
别：old是形容词，age是名词。
（1）询问对方“多大年龄”用How old are you?或
What’s your age?
（2）说某人的年龄，用“be + 基数词 ( + years old) ”
或“be + 基数词 ( + years of age)”。如：He is five years old.或He is five years of age.

思是“难道……不……？”。
如：Aren’t you Chinese? 回答否定疑问句常用Yes或
No，但这时的Yes是“不”，No的意思为“是的”。
例如：— Doesn’t he have a brother?
— Yes, he does. 不，他有。
— No, he doesn’t. 是的，他没有。

她喜欢与她的朋友一起玩耍。
在这里，play with是固定短语，表示“与……一起玩耍”，

15. 4. go to bed和sleep这两个词均有“睡觉”的意思，但用法
准备睡觉，不含“睡着”之意，是个结束性动词短语，与
之相对应的词组是get up（起床）。
如：We usually get up at six in the morning and go to bed at nine in the evening.
我通常在早上六点起床在晚上九点睡觉。
sleep指睡、睡着的全过程。用于现在进行时态中，表示“
正在睡觉”。

6. at night / in the night的区别。
at night 作“在夜里”、“在晚上”、“天黑时”解，是
指一天的部分时间，常常是下午6时至午夜这一段时间。
如：I like to work at night because it is very quiet.
我喜欢在夜里工作，因为夜里很安静。
in the night作“在夜里”解，指天黑到第二天天亮这一段
时间。
