2 AES Publications

3 Transactions on AES becoming electronic-only
In 2011, T-AES is available to members only electronically (fulfilled via Xplore). Nonmembers can still obtain the title in print, electronic, or print-and-electronic (combo) formats. In 2012, T-AES can become online-only, and all the nonmembers subscribing to T-AES will be switched to electronic access via Xplore. About 75 CD-ROMs would be required for fulfillment of the print ASPP package – preferable quarterly to avoid negative feedback from librarians who would not like waiting until a year-end issue for content. It is not recommended to offer a CD-ROM option for sale. It will not be promoted to nonmembers.

4 Transactions on AES page charges
The following motion was communicated: AESS charge $250 per page mandatory for “Letters”, and $200 per page for papers over 11+ and 7+ for Correspondence. Question: Does this mean that EVERY page of a letters article needs to be paid for by the author? Considering letters are cutting-edge concepts, staff recommends rethinking this. Cutting-edge content is very attractive even at condensed level like done for letters. Charging for every page will limit the number of these articles submitted. Question: When should this be implemented?

5 AES Magazine Frequency
A motion was communicated to reduce the Systems Magazine from monthly to bi-monthly, effective It is too late to make this change for 2011, as this decision can only be made by June of the prior publication year. There was a sales commitment made to subscribers and members that AES Magazine for the 2011 subscription year would have 12 issues. This commitment cannot be broken without refunding subscribers and ASPP/IEL subscribers who complain. This would affect IEEE’s reputation, as we already receive negative comments on our late issues and poor periodical launches. Suggestion: Make this change for the 2012 publication year.
