1 British History Breaks 2017 Media Kit

2 Overview British History Breaks seeks and shares the incredible history behind places you can stay in the UK – with a focus on hotels connected to recognisable historic characters Our rich heritage is the reason many tourists flock to the UK. While visiting our castles and museums may suffice for some, a growing number of visitors seek a truly authentic and immersive experience – which includes their accommodation. Visits to historic sites are growing, membership of heritage organisations is increasing and participation in heritage is becoming more inclusive, according to this year’s Heritage Counts reports. As a PR and marketing professional with fifteen years industry experience Shelley understands the power of a story to capture peoples imagination and has a good understanding of the challenges faced by the travel industry. Shelley and Lewis tailor the way they work to suit the objectives of their clients – be it a hotel, tourist board, DMO or brand partner.

3 The history of BHB We couldn't help but wonder about the stories hidden behind Britain's castles, country houses and coaching inns that now serve as historic hotels, so we set off to find out! Since we began touring the UK in 2013, we've found there is invariably a staff member with encyclopedic knowledge of the place who will gladly talk to us about it. Over copious coffees and cream teas we have been given access to some fascinating and largely unexplored insights into British history, including their links to our most famed historical figures. Now it's 2017 and the site has grown to become a top historic travel influencer! We have been asked to write for a great number of magazines and websites and attend familiarisation trips all over the UK. There are still a great number of hotels and attractions to explore and the idea of expanding beyond the UK is tempting. We hope the site will inspire our readers to opt for more than a place to lay their head during their next visit. We have visited every hotel that features on the site and those that do not feel right to sit alongside the collection are simply not written about. The historic hotels we feature tend to fall on the expensive side of normal but unlike chain hotels, each one is completely unique and you are likely to leave with some fantastic stories and a great respect for the owners who often throw everything they have into their inherited masterpieces. The criteria we keep in mind during hotel visits:  does it have a welcoming atmosphere, designed for leisure travellers does it offer fantastic food made with local ingredients has it been modernised sufficiently, in-keeping with its age and style will its story capture the imagination of our readers BHB founders – Shelley Doyle & Lewis Stallard, Britain’s top historic travel influencers
