Participles can be used as adjectives: The crying baby is hungry
Participles can be used as adjectives: The crying baby is hungry. The running man trampled our flowers. After staying up all night, I’m tired and grumpy.

Participial Phrase – a phrase with a present or past participle that modifies a noun or noun phrase.
Crying incessantly, the baby turned red. The scruffy man, running at top speed, trampled our flowers. Tired and grumpy, Brandon could barely function in school. Shattered in several pieces, the vase lay on the kitchen floor.

Be careful for misplaced modifiers:
Biking down the street, the dog barked at the girl. Churning in the Atlantic Ocean, we anxiously watched the weather report for information about the hurricane. Moving from flower to flower, I watched the honey bee.

Add your own participial phrase:
Dolores dodged jellyfish that had washed ashore. The rack of ribs lay nestled next to a pile of sweet coleslaw. William borrowed Grandpa's old suit to wear to the interview.
