Li Po Chun UWC - context Li Po Chun UWC is located in Hong Kong. A pre-university IB Diploma residential College, it was established in It is home to around 256 students, approximately 46% of which are from Hong Kong.

Attitudes towards Japan...
Aside from China - Japan tensions spilling over into Hong Kong the older generation remember the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong from 1941 to 1945.

Initiative for Peace IFP

IFP The concept was founded at UWC of South East Asia in LPC adopted and developed this conference model in Since then it has held annual conferences bringing youth from conflicting sides together to work on conflict management. IFP is an IB CAS (‘Quan Cai’) Community Service ‘experience’. During the College year, IFP organises day camps for the training of students as conflict resolution facilitators & also trains students from other schools. IFP culminates with a week long conference during the ‘summer’ holiday.

Sino - Japanese Youth Conference

SJYC SJYC was established by Chishio Furukawa, A Japanese student at LPC in Chishio had the idea of bringing youth from Hong Kong, Mainland China and Japan together to promote dialogue, mutual understanding and celebration of difference. Mission: The Sino-Japan Youth Conference aims to facilitate Young Ambassadors from China, HK and Japan to contribute towards a constructive future based on mutual respect upholding the UWC ideal on international understanding. Since 2009, SJYC has hosted week long conferences at the College working with different students from the 3 regions and on different themes. Like IFP, SJYC has also adopted the day camp model to demonstrate its work & processes to other local schools.

Peace initiatives at LPC share in common:
Student created and/or Student trained (Year 2 train Year 1 facilitators) Regional and local focus - identifying real conflicts Foundations in regular weekly CAS activities leading to/preparing for week long conferences in holiday. Laying the foundations for young people who will as adults be committed to peace and have experienced methods and processes for achieving it.

Peace starts within... LPC increasingly facilitates a number of activities to develop peace within oneself and others: Mindfulness Positive Education ( ) Playback Theatre - interactive, therapeutic theatre CAS creativity & service performing & affirming the feelings & stories of the audience. Verbatim Theatre - Project Week - using the actual words of minority groups as a basis for performances that give voice to those groups - mentally & physically challenged (Beijing 2012); orphanage (Cambodia 13); refugees, ex-offenders, the homeless (Hong Kong 14-16). Psychodrama group therapy - using creative, active techniques in a group therapy setting to support LPC students.
