1 eSpectra: Surface Science Preview
Charleston Conference Premiers November 4, 2016

2 AIP Publishing Supporting the Full Range of Applied Physics Research
AIP Publishing is a wholly-owned not-for-profit subsidiary of the American Institute of Physics AIP is a federation of 10 Member Societies representing 120,000 scientists, engineers, educators and students in the global physical sciences community Key publications 30 leading journals & magazines in the physical sciences, including Journal of Applied Physics, Applied Physics Letters & The Journal of Chemical Physics plus Physics Today 900,000+ articles, reviews & communications Over 1,700 volumes in AIP Conference Proceedings dating back to 1970 Nearly 300,000 articles in the AIP Digital Archives – a collection that dates back to 1930

3 Surface Science Spectroscopy What Is it?
Surface scientists rely on spectroscopic methods to analyze materials and chemical composition It is a vital technique in development of semiconductors, metal alloys, polymers, ceramics, glasses and inorganic compounds We will shortly be launching eSpectra - an online browser-based data analysis and visualization tool for the peer-reviewed and unique datasets contained in the AVS journal Surface Science Spectra with nearly 25 years of experimental output from major labs worldwide

4 Surface Science Spectroscopy What’s The Problem?

5 eSpectra: Surface Science Find the Data
Priorities

6 eSpectra: Surface Science Plot and Compare the Data
Priorities

7 eSpectra: Surface Science Early Feedback
“This tool is so much better than the NIST database.” “I would use this on a daily basis.” “It is great that I can compare my results to published results!” “Amazing!” “Let me know when this is online!” “It’s good to validate old data and newly acquired data.” “That’s the dream, right, to be able to collect data and compare to the most brilliant guy who collected the [same] data last week.” Priorities

8 eSpectra: Surface Science What Next?
We will be launching a preview version of eSpectra to delegates at the AVS Symposium in Nashville on 11/8 We hope to gain more feedback on what we have developed so far The preview will confirm users’ perception of eSpectra’s value and inform how we will bring the product to market We are looking forward to announcing launch arrangements for Q1 2017 Contact Mark Barragry for further information
