The city of Pompeii, located on the Bay of Naples in the Mediterranean Sea was one of Rome’s biggest and most populated cities
On August 24th, 79 AD, a stream of smoke began to lift from the top of Mount Vesuvius

A few minutes later, the mountain literally blew its top off and smoke, hot gasses, clouds of ash as well as volcanic stones known as pumice started to rain on the city
There was a mass panic as people had to choose what to do in this situation
