3 General Responsibilities
Account for all testing materials, conduct the testing, and monitor test- takers to ensure a fair administration Hall monitors may assist in in test administration—monitors do not administer the test, but they do help set up testing area, monitor the test, and patrol the hallways

4 Equipping the Test room
All seats must face the same direction, with chairs directly behind one another, and each seat must be 4 feet apart from the center of the desk right to left Develop a seating plan ahead of time that follows the guidelines, assign seats at random, and once testing begins, complete the seating chart of the testing room On the board: Test date School name and test center number (Memorial High School—44949) Room number “USE A NO. 2 PENCIL ONLY. DO NOT USE A PEN OR MECHANICAL PENCIL”

5 Maintaining security in testing rooms
Prepare testing rooms by removing/covering instructive materials such as maps and charts Follow the script exactly Remain alert and vigilant—do not use the computer, phone, or grade papers One staff member must be in the room at all times Ensure that students do not use calculators, phones, or prohibited aids during breaks Monitor test materials at all times—do not leave materials unattended with students Students may not eat or drink, or use phones in the testing room

6 Timing the test and giving breaks
The SAT is timed by sections in all rooms--standard and non-standard Students must be given the entire amount of time and they cannot move on to the next section until time is called Students must be offered breaks at regular intervals Only one student at a time can take an unscheduled break—they will not receive extended time Accurate/uniform timing: Accurately time each test section Record the start and stop times on the charts provided and on the board for students to see Announce the remaining time at regular intervals as indicated in the scripts Inform testing supervisor of timing irregularities

7 Calculator policies Students must supply their own calculators and batteries—a scientific or graphing calculator is recommended Students may not share calculators Staff are not expected to have extra equipment or batteries Every question on the SAT can be solved without a calculator; however, using a calculator may be helpful Calculators may be used on the mathematics sections (calculator portion) only There are calculator and non-calculator portions of the Math section To help monitor, look for the “No Calculator” symbol at the top of each test book page Students may not have calculators on their desk when working on non math sections

8 Testing rooms forms and reports
Check the testing materials received against the serial number listed on the form As indicated, record the serial number of each test book in the corresponding seat location on the seating chart. Also, list the student’s last name Important reports: Supervisor’s Irregularity Report Group irregularity, Individual irregularity, Test Question Ambiguity Information Request to cancel test scores Students may sign before they leave the test room—turn in report in the test bucket Students may sign request up to 3 days after the test—see their alpha counselor

9 Policies to convey to students
Students may not share test questions/answers or discuss essay questions with anyone during or after the test—including breaks Students may not work on any section other than the one currently being timed—they may not look ahead or back in the test book Students may not continue working after time has been called Students must take the entire test and not skip any section—skipping a section will adversely affect their scores Students may not go to their lockers or leave the building during breaks Students must mark their answers on the answer sheets—no credit will be awarded if recorded in the test book

10 Materials – Pick up & Return
Test Administrator picks up bin by 7:30 from A209 Accounting for materials received & sign-out required Return Test books in total numerical order (Do not separate used from unused books) Answer documents Facing the same direction Do not have to be alphabetized Separate used from unused (paper clip unused answer docs) Accounting for materials returned & sign-in required
