1 Empire State Partnership with Margaretville Central School
The photographs in this power point presentation represent the various programs The Open Eye Theater has done with the students at MCS. We have worked with many of the students for several years and have enjoyed watching them grow not only as individuals but as young actors. There are several of the MCS students who are now actors on our main stage as a result of their interest in the theater which they were introduced to during these partnerships with the school.

6 12th Grade English Class. Here teacher Amanda Wells works with the students and TA during a play writing workshop. Students discussed theme and then each took time to write on that theme. The students then shared their ideas and how they would use what they had written to develop a play.

7 NYS History: The Civil War
The next few slides are of a process done with the 7th graders at Margaretville Central School. The students objective was to learn about and present their findings at a living museum public presentation on the Civil War Soldiers from the Town of Middletown, Delaware County.

8 7th grade history class. Here teacher Bill Fiedler speaks to the student about the cemetery they are in and the importance of respecting the sacred space. Objective of this field trip was for the students to go into one of the oldest cemeteries in the Town of Middletown and document the Civil War Veterans and present a small speech on those they found at the public presentation they did.

A student identifies a headstone of a civil war soldier. Her task is to write down all the information on the stone and with the aid of the NYS gen web see if she can find more information on him and present that at the living history museum presentation.

10 One of the students dressed in period clothing shows a surgical instrument used by a field surgeon during the Civil War. A local artifacts collector lent over $100,000. worth of authentic pieces to the students to show and tell at the living museum public presentation.

11 “The Water Cycle” 5th grade presentation which was a representation of how the water cycle works and how that cycle works with in our New York City Water Shed. Local materials from The Catskill Center for Conservations and Developments “Sense of Place” was used to develop the play the students presented.
