2 Why? We are all here to support your child’s achievement.
Your child is competing against every other child nationally. There is an added level of difficulty in new GCSEs. The next few months are crucial to your child’s future. An effective collaboration between student, school and home is essential.

3 The National Picture Your child is competing against every other child. Greater emphasis on memory and recall. Concepts are tested instead of processes – deep understanding. 2 types of GCSE add to the confusion. Uncertainty with Maths and English grading’s. We know that 5% nationally will achieve a grade 9 and a grade A is a grade 7. National benchmark – Grade 4. Sixth form expectations are a grade 6 to study that subject

6 Period 7 Monday 27th February up to the exams.
Every Day (Monday to Friday). 50 additional lessons to support your child. PLCs will inform the content of the sessions. Personalised timetables. Each lesson delivered by one or more teachers. Your child is expected to attend. If there are any transport issues please come and speak to us.

7 Period 7 – 3:30pm to 4:30pm Mondays – Maths/English Tuesdays – Option subjects Wednesdays – English/Science Thursdays – Maths/Science Fridays – Option Subjects

11 Pre-Public Exams (Mocks)
The Second round of PPEs start on Friday 3rd March. Students will receive detailed feedback. PPE results will be on progress checks in April.

Lessons will continue up to Friday 9th June. Teachers will continue to teach. Access to experts is crucial. Students should attend these lessons as normal

19 Revision at home 40 minutes is the recommended time for each revision ‘session’ Students should concentrate on what they don’t know Use Active Revision Techniques: lists, mind-maps, flash cards, practise timed questions/mark schemes, reduce notes, internet websites, develop case studies, mnemonics, flow charts, links, post-its, practice drawing diagrams, testing, quizzes WHATEVER WORKS!

24 Key Revision Strategies – Past Papers
Past papers will start to be released shortly. These will form a mixture of homework, classwork and extra independent study if students wish. These recent questions will be the main place your son/daughter can see recent, exam style questions.

Good for covering all topics which give student immediate feedback. GCSE Statistics is on here! Some A-Level content as well. For Usernames and Passwords ask the Maths Department. Students can obtain a second level password from their maths teacher if needed.

33 What do the students have to do?
Log in regularly and complete the assignments at the top of the list – keep the wheel of progress at least green The mission is to keep up the pace – it only takes a few minutes each day. Tassomai will continue to test and evaluate knowledge and understanding ready for the exam date.
