Saber vs. Conocer Saber and conocer are both verbs that mean “to know”
Both have irregular yo forms Let’s check out their differences…

Saber The conjugations for “saber” are….
Yo Nosotoros Tú Él Ellos sé sabes sabe sabemos saben Saber means “to know” facts and information. Yo sé que hay tarea mañana. I know that there is homework tomorrow. Saber also can be used with the infinitive of another verb to say that you know how to do something. Yo sé tocar el piano I know how to play the piano.

Conocer The conjugations for “conocer” are….
Yo Nosotoros Tú Él Ellos conozco conoces conoce conocemos conocen conocer means “to know” a person. Yo conozco a la presidente del club de español. I know the Spanish club president. Remember to use the personal “a” with conocer when you say you know a person! Conocer also is used to say you are familiar with a place or thing. Yo conozco el club atlético “Prairie Life” I am familiar with the athletic club “Prairie Life”

We need to use the personal “a” because we are saying we know a person. 1. I know the math teacher. 2. She knows how to study. 3. I don’t know the school very well. 4. Do you know how to play an instrument? Yo conozco al profesor de matemáticas. We DO NOT need to use the personal “a” because we are saying we know a place, not a person. Ella sabe estudiar. Yo no conozco la escuela muy bien. ¿Sabes tocar un instrumento?
