A Heart for God Prepares Us to be Used by God In I Sam. 13:14 the bible states that God “sought out A man after his own heart” to be King. Saul simply was not that man! When Samuel came to the house of Jesse to anoint A king to replace Saul, Samuel thought that Eliab, the Oldest would be made king! God said no. I Sam. 16:7 We can learn that it takes a heart prepared to serve God!. Out of your heart…Matt. 15:19-20 Serve God from a good heart. Rom. 6:16-18

God helps us to do what we must do to serve Him.
God gave David strength to serve Him. Cf. Phil. 4:13 Where does our strength come from? Heb. 13:5-6 I will never leave thee…. Prov. 3:5-6 ..Even Peter, who denied Jesus, was restored to the love of the Master. He preached the first Gospel sermon. (Acts 2:36-41)

It is better to Fear God than to be Nine Feet tall.
Goliath was a giant… probably 9 feet tall. But whom had you rather be in that battle: ! David Had great faith to fight for God. When we walk with God, and do His will..we can walk through the valley of the shadow of death without being afraid. (Remember Bro. Matt Burns sermon last Sunday night on Psalm 23)

Yet

David allowed one night of lust with Bathsheba and
It had disastrous consequences in his life. 2 Sam. 11:1ff

Sin Can Bring Horrible Consequences, but
Sin Can Be forgiven… My sin is ever before me. “For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.” Psalm 51:3 David admitted his sin. 2 Sam. 12:13 I have sinned Against the Lord. “I have”…. He had hurt the Living God…and he was sorry for That. He admitted and confessed his sins. “I have sinned” I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to Forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”He could tell you the sorrow that went with the punishment for his sins.

I Samuel 16:7 ..Lord looks on the heart
I Sam. 17:50..So David triumphed over the Philistine with A sling and a stone I Sam. 30:6 ..David was greatly distressed..men talked of Stoning him..he found strength in the Lord his God 2 Sam. 12:12-13.David said to Nathan: I have sinned against The Lord. Psalm 23:6..and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever..
