2 Objective: Standards: Students will practice rhyming words.
Students will research The Cat in the Hat and write an informational writing. Standards: With prompting and support, name the author and illustrator of a story and define the role of each in telling the story. (K.RL.6) Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes). (K.RF.2) Recognize and produce rhyming words. (K.RF.2) Participate in shared research and writing projects (e.g., explore a number of books by a favorite author and express opinions about them). (K.W.7)

5 Did You Know… Dr. Seuss was born Theodor Seuss Geisel in 1904.
His mother would sing rhymes to him as a child which he says helped him to become an author He wrote and illustrated 44 children's book. His 1st book was rejected 27 times. He died on September 24, 1991.
