Reading:
Our story this week is a non-fiction story called, How Animals Communicate. In this story, we will talk about main idea and details of a non-fiction story. In phonics (letter sounds), we will work on the sounds for short i, and r blends. In grammar we will work identifying the subjects of sentences. Please keep track of your child’s reading on the reading log and word cards. We will do this all year, so keep looking for book bags to come home! 
Daily 5 & CAFE: As a part of our reading block, we will also continue to work on Daily 5. We built up our read to self, work on writing, read to someone, and listen to reading stamina. This week, we will launch Word Work. Our CAFÉ strategy this week will include: identifying fiction/non-fiction books and telling the main idea.
Spelling: Spelling tests will be on Fridays. The test will have words from our Journeys story and sight words.
Journeys Spelling: in, sit, will, did, six, big, trip, grin, it, pin
Math:
We will be starting up Chapter 4 of our GoMath curriculum. We will revisit subtraction and talk about various addition strategies. We will be talking about counting back, subtracting doubles, and practicing subtraction this week.
