4. Step IV commissioning status
All instrumentation commissioned:
Data taking interleaved w/ magnet commissioning
Upstream solenoid:
Commissioned to full current (+2%);
Issue of earth leakage in dump trays addressed:
Replaced electrical isolation/termal contact
DL electrical team (S. Griffiths et al):
Example of excellent support for MICE from DL
Focus coil:
Unexpected thermal behaviour close to operating temperature:
Evidence of dependence of thermal load on vacuum conditions inside warm bore
Warmed up to replace frozen gasses:
Gas-cleaning carried out
Now cooling down once more
(Re)Engagement with TESLA:
TESLA ready to engage with debugging of magnet in the channel
Ideas (subset):
Attempt to improve cooling performance by:
(Re)Adjustment of pressure in cryocooler hoses;
Increase in torque on cold-head bolts
