Your child may come home with a lanyard. Please ask them why they earned it and return it promptly the following school day.

7 Communication I will send a weekly to just touch base on upcoming events.

8 Before School 8:35 Breakfast
Students are not allowed on kindergarten playground until 8:45. We do not have supervision until that time. Everyone must wait at the red tables.

9 TECHNOLOGY iPads Smartboards Computers
Technology will be used to enhance our instruction.

10 Absences Please verify your child’s absence with a phone call to the office Let me know in advance if you may miss more than four consecutive days of school. I will set up an Independent Study Contract. Attend Saturday school when offered to make up for absences.

11 Volunteering I have a sign up sheet in the back.
You must sign in at the office first. We will begin parent volunteers after the classes have been set. Let me know if you would like to assist with: technology, Art—painting assistance in the classroom, reading, field trips, copying, art projects, etc. Let me know if you have a special talent that you would like to share.

12 Birthdays! Sharing! NEW POLICY: We are discouraging food items in lieu of non-food items. Birthday celebrations are to allowed the last 10 minutes of the day. Our school is an “Animal Free” zone due to allergies etc.

13 Appropriate attire Please send your child in comfortable clothing.
They must have appropriate shoes for the playground. They must be close-toed. (No flip flops, or any backless sandals) Please mark the clothing, backpacks, and lunchboxes with their names so that they can be returned to them.

14 Homework Policy Official homework will be begin once the classes are “set.” Each child should be exposed to print at least fifteen minutes a day. Your child should READ, or be read to daily. I have a tub on top of the backpack cart. Please turn in homework and teacher notes to the tub.

Backward Many students struggle with writing because they are “drawing” their letters. Please practice at home—using fun activities to build up their writing fluency.

19 Scholastic Book Clubs The PTA has book fairs at our school to assist our families in purchasing quality books at a low price. Our classroom sends home book order forms to purchase books. These orders allow the individual teacher to purchase books for the classroom. (Books make GREAT gifts!) Scholastic.com

20 What to bring? Headphones (not ear buds)in a labeled plastic baggie.
Snack—separately packaged or marked SNACK Lunch--if they are bringing. Lunch $$$ I am not allowed to handle any money. Please pay online or at the cafeteria. Extra clothing—in case of accidents. (Let me know if there may be an issue).

21 Drop off and Pick up Please be patient
No parents are allowed on the playground Stay in or by your car
