2 The Royal Arms In the Royal Arms three lions symbolize England, a lion rampant – Scotland, and a harp – Ireland. The whole is encircled and is supported by a lion and a unicorn. The lion has been used as a symbol of national strength and of the British monarchy for many centuries. The unicorn, a mythical animal that looks like a horse with a long straight horn, has appeared on the Scottish and British royal coats of arms for many centuries, and is a symbol of purity.

3 The Royal Flag The flag of the United Kingdom, known as the Union Yack, is made up of three crosses. The upright red cross on a white background is the cross of the 1 st George, the patron saint of England. The white diagonal cross on a blue background is the cross of St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland. The red diagonal cross on a white background is the cross of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland

5 Queen Elizabeth II The first child of the Duke and Duchess Of York, Elizabeth was born on April 21, 1926, and christened Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor in the chapel at Buckingham Palace Educated at home with her younger sister Princess Margaret. In 1947, she married a handsome young naval officer, Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten. The coronation took place in Westminster Abbey on June 2, Their first child, Prince Charles, was born in 1948 and his sister Princess Anne came along two years later. Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, were born in 1960 and 1964

Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark was born on the island of Corfu on June 10, 1921, to Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice, the eldest daughter of Louis Alexander Mountbatten. The blond toddler was just one-and-a-half when the family left Greece. And Philip spent the first years of his life in France. 8 Prince Charles of York Prince Charles was born in 1948, eldest son of the then Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He became Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay, the traditional titles for the heir to the throne, when his mother became Queen Elizabeth II in He attended her coronation. Tutored by a governess until the age of 8, he attended Cheam preparatory school in Berkshire and then Gordonstoun School in Scotland where his father had been at school. He became head boy although he has said that he did not enjoy his time at school. In 1966 he spent two terms at Geelong School in Australia and visited Papua New Guinea.

9 Princess Anne Born on August 15, 1950, Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise Windsor, the Princess. A kidnap attempt was made on the Princess in early 1974 and, although Anne was unhurt, her personal protection officer was shot and wounded during the incident. She and Captain Phillips were divorced in April 1992, and in December of that year she married Timothy Laurence, a Commodore of the Royal Navy. Anne married fellow British everything team member and Queen's Dragoon Guard Captain Mark Phillips on November 14, 1973, in Westminster Abbey, and they had two children - Peter, born in 1977; and Zara, born in 1981.

15 Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms. In measurements, the building is 108 meters long across the front, 120 meters deep (including the central quadrangle) and 24 meters high. George IV's original palace lacked a large room in which to entertain. Queen Victoria rectified that shortcoming by adding in what was, at the time of its construction, the largest room in London. At 36.6m long, 18m wide and 13.5m high. More than 50,000 people visit the Palace each year as guests to banquets, lunches, dinners, receptions and the Royal Garden Parties

16 Windsor Castle Windsor Castle is an official residence of The Queen and the largest occupied castle in the world. The castle was the inspiration for the Royal family's surname. William the Conqueror built the castle in 1080 and it has remained a royal palace and fortress for over 900 years. Windsor is the oldest royal home in Britain and, covering 13 acres, it's the largest castle in the world that is still lived in. Each year, the Order of the Garter ceremony is held at Windsor Castle, and the Queen occasionally hosts a "dine and sleeps" for politicians and public figures .

17 Balmorals Castle Balmorals Castle is the private residence of The Queen. It has remained a favorite residence for The Queen and her family during the summer holiday period in August and September. The Castle is located on the large Balmorals Estate in Aberdeen shire, Scotland. Some 85,000 people visit Balmorals each year, and the estate maintains and restores footpaths throughout the property for visiting hikers.
